Abstract
Teacher will help facilitate the lesson by using the Inspirations
Program. Using the webbing map students will answer pre-made
questions about Samantha. This lesson will help collect key words
from questions asked in webbing activity to help them in later
lessons.

Questions: What was life like for Samantha during the
turn of the century time period?

Lesson
Prerequisite Skills
Read the story Meet Samantha from the American Girl Series.
Teacher
Information/Situations/Setting/Time Approximately 3
weeks to read and discuss story Meet Samantha from the American
Girl Series, computer projector, Inspiration 6.0 By using
computer projector and Inspiration software program teacher will
facilitate comprehension lesson.
Assessment
Students will be able to volunteer ideas and answers to whole
group teacher led brainstorming session.
Student Activity/Tasks 1. Read the story
Meet Samantha. Make predictions, discuss story elements and
characteristics of life of 19th century child throughout
story..
2. Use overhead projector to show teacher directed
questions and to initiate brainstorming.
3. Students
brainstorm answers/ideas to questions while teacher records On
webbing activity page.
Enrichment/Alternate Activity:
Students can create own web after specified chapters given by
teacher.
