Abstract
Before the lesson starts, we will have covered the following
basic parts of speech:
a) subject b) conjugated verb c)
infinitive verb d) present participles e) positive
commands f) negative commands e) direct objects
The
lesson will then be given on what an INDIRECT OBJECT is and how to
locate it in the sentence. Then, we will discuss what the indirect
object pronouns are and where they will need to be placed in the
sentence.
Once the students have identified indirect objects
in some sentences and have chosen the correct pronoun to replace
them, the rules of placement will be discussed. They are: (a) before
the conjugated verb (b) attached to the end of an
infinitive (c) attached to the end of a present participle (d)
attached to the end of a positive command (e) before a negative
command and after the NO
The students will view a Power Point
presentation as a reference for notes on the subject. Worksheets
with sample sentences will be used to label and rewrite sentences.
Students will learn what to do if they have both and
indirect and direct object in the same sentence in another lesson.

Lesson
Prerequisite Skills
Students must be able to identify a subject and a verb in any
given sentence before beginning this lesson. The types of verbs to
be identified are: (a) conjugated verbs (b) infinitive verbs (c)
present participles (d) positive commands (e) negative commands
Teacher
Information/Situations/Setting/Time The lesson will
begin with the discussion of what an indirect object is and how to
find it in an English sentence. Give the following example and ask
the students to locate the indirect object in the sentence.
I
gave the letter to Maria.
In order to find the indirect
object in the sentence, the students must ask To whom or For whom?
The indirect object in the above sentence is to Maria. Ask the
students what the indirect object pronoun would be in English.
Hopefully, they will tell you "to HER". Then, discuss the other
indirect object pronoun options in English first.
Once you
have done this, the Power Point presentaiton will help you explain
how to do the same in Spanish.
The website below will also
be helpful in another explanation of indirect objects. It will also
offer the opportunity to do some examples.
Assessment
A test and/or quiz can be used as one method of assessment.Te
student activity outlined in the lesson on direct object pronouns
can also be used for this lesson.
Student Activity/Tasks Students can
participate in the same activity that they did in the direct object
pronoun section. There is a worksheet provided for students to
practice with as well.
