Abstract  (help)

Students will learn that a castle was a home to a king or lord and his family. They will also learn that is was built to resist attack and was not the most comfortable place to live. Students will learn this through lterature, direct instruction, provided Internet sites and the use of a KWL chart to help generate ideas the students have about castles. Students will draw and label different parts of a castle on paper. Students will then be able to build their castle. The assessment will be the drawing and labeling of the castle as well as the student's ability to construct some of the various parts of the castle. A rubric will be used to assess the drawings and construction of the castle model.
