Lesson abstracts should include the following components:

1.    Essential understanding of lesson (major concept/s)

2.    Knowledge and/or skills included in the lesson that will assist students in reaching understanding

3.    Connection to previous learning

4.    General teaching strategy

5.    Approach(es) to inquiry (as this applies)

Note: The final sequence of abstracts provided in the unit plan should provide a picture to a reader of how the lesson sequence will build students' conceptual understandings.
