Fundamental Understandings help

In this first grade module, students will learn what a castle is, the purpose of castles, who lived in them, how a castle was a community all of their own.

Relevance help

The studies of castles will enable students to distinguish between the past and the current times. The children will be assessing these differences through a multitude of varied sources. Castles of their own will be constructed for their interpretation of these pasts communities.

Assessment help

The students will have a final project that they will present to the class and the finished project will be the assessment tool.

Components help

Students will learn the historical significance through literature, direct instruction, Internet resources, and KWL charts.
