Get Your Head Into The Clouds

In this unit students will learn the importance of studying clouds and how their role in our environment effects our day to day living.

In lesson one, seventh grade students will understand the process of cloud formation and they will be able to determine relative humidity.

In lesson two, seventh grade students will be able to identify the various types of clouds and be able to discuss weather conditions associated with teach type of cloud.

In lesson three, seventh grade students will be able to explain the causes and forms of precipitation.

In lesson four, seventh grade students will learn about cloud seeding and the rationale for this procedure.

Lesson One: Research tools - a)Routinely and efficiently use online information resources to meet needs for collaboration, research, publications, communications, and productivity.

Students will understand the process of cloud formation, identify the various types of clouds, and be able to discuss weather conditions associated with each type of cloud. This prerequisite knowledge will be used for further study of precipitation and cloud seeding. After researching cloud seeding, students will write an editorial about this subject and its effects on the environment.

Lesson One: This assignment should be evaluated with a rubric indicating a minimum number of terms included in the concept map, with a minimum number of links, as well. Correctness of links should also be included in the assessment.

Lesson Two: This assignment should be evaluated for completeness and correctness. A minimum number of cloud-types should be required (8), with corresponding information about their appearance and related weather.

Lesson Three: Students should be previously provided with a checklist of evaluation items, to include:
1. knowledge of the information presented
2. clarity of the presentation
3. mechanics of the demonstration
4. correctness of supporting documentation
(A 1-5 rubric may be applied to the above checklist)

Lesson Four: This writing assignment should evaluated with the Six Trait Writing Model. It is recommended that WORD CHOICE be emphasized.
